Lauren Turner’s connection to Macquarie College runs deep. A proud graduate of the Class of 2013, Lauren (formerly Taylor) spent her school years at MC from Year 2 to Year 12. Now, she has come full circle, returning as the Junior School Sports Coordinator, where she inspires the next generation of students.
Lauren’s passion for teaching and sport led her to study at Avondale University, fulfilling her goal of becoming a primary school teacher. After gaining experience through casual work while at Uni, she officially joined the MC staff in 2023. Today, she teaches Kindergarten to Year 6 Sport, helping young students develop their confidence, teamwork, and love for physical activity.
Reflecting on her time as a student, Lauren recalls the many opportunities MC provided to her to grow and learn. One of her most treasured memories is the STORMCO trip to Vanuatu, a service experience that left a lasting impact. She also credits current assistant principal Mr Aaron Williams for his unwavering support and encouragement. He continually motivated her to never give up, reminding her that hard work and effort mattered, even when academic success didn’t come easily. His belief in her abilities made a lasting impression, shaping the resilience she carries into her teaching today. Lauren married her husband Pat last year who also attended MC from Year 7 to Year 12.
Lauren’s dedication to education has already earned her recognition, including being named a finalist for the Early Career Educator Award from the Teachers' Guild of New South Wales. She remains motivated by challenges and the opportunity to learn something new, believing that growth is just as important as success.
Her guiding philosophy? Be kind, always. And if you tried your best, be proud of yourself. It’s a lesson she now passes on to her students, continuing the legacy of support and encouragement that shaped her own journey at MC.
Mrs Turner - thank you for sharing with us.
